What is Swim Up Camp?

Swim Up Camp is the camp brand of the Ankara-based Frekans Swimming Academy, running video-analysed swim camps for adults. At camp every swimmer’s stroke is filmed underwater, and from the surface when conditions allow; national swimming coaches then explain each fault to you.

01 · Method

We make the faults in your technique visible.

The movement you feel while swimming and the technique you actually use are not always the same. We analyse your technique with underwater and surface camera footage. Our national swimming coaches study your footage frame by frame and identify your technical faults. They find the three priority points for you to improve, and throughout camp we focus on correcting them with training built for you.

Underwater camera: a swimmer reaches forward in freestyle, a second swimmer just below.

01

Measure.

We analyse your swimming technique with underwater camera footage. When conditions allow, surface footage supports the assessment.

02

Explain.

Our national swimming coaches study your footage frame by frame to find your technical faults. They set three priority areas to correct and explain them to you in detail.

03

Correct.

We plan the rest of the camp’s sessions around the analysis. To fix the faults found, our coaches give you work of your own in the water and at the poolside.

Correct · frame by frame

One frame, four lines.

The coach slows the footage, freezes the key frame and compares it with the right line. What you see on screen is what your stroke really does.

Freestyle from the underwater camera: an extended arm and the body line running diagonally from head to feet. Side-on underwater frame: one arm extended, the other in the pull phase, head in the water. Freestyle from below: the arm catching the water and the flexed wrist, close up. Head-on underwater frame: hands stacked in the glide position and the line of the shoulders. Illustrative · real camp frame Underwater · low side camera

What else the camera looks at

  • KickAmplitude, rate, ankle flexibility
  • Turns and breakoutsFlip turn, push-off, dolphin kicks
  • BreathingHow far the head turns, and its effect on balance
  • SurfaceStroke rate, pace, line in open water

The drawings are illustrative: they show what the coach looks at, not measurements.

Explain · the same footage

Different angles, one record.

The underwater camera is the core. When conditions allow, surface and drone footage show the same stroke from elsewhere; the coach watches them together.

The above-water camera angle: a swimmer's arm and head action in butterfly, seen from pool-deck level.
Surface camera

02 · Camps

Three camps, three waters.

An indoor pool, an outdoor pool and the sea. Every camp is a package: dates, venue and everything included. Accommodation, meals and coaching; underwater technical analysis when the announcement includes it.
